In 2018, Waterford-Tamborine Rd (a state-controlled road) made RACQ’s Unroadworthy Roads Survey and was also listed as a ‘high risk’ road in its Risky Roads Project.
Congestion is already a major issue along Waterford-Tamborine Road, with 14,000 vehicles using this single lane road every day through Tamborine, Jimboomba, Yarrabilba, Logan Village, Buccan and Waterford.
With up to 50,000 people expected to live in the state developed area of Yarrabilba in the coming years, this situation will continue to become worse without determined action now.
Roads in and around Logan Village become gridlocked during peak hour and at school drop off and pick up. Traffic can often be at a standstill for more than a kilometre north and south of the town centre.
Traffic is impacting the community, with access to schools being difficult and unsafe and traffic at a standstill during peak travel times.
- $7-10 million for detailed design and project funding to upgrade Waterford-Tamborine Rd between Anzac Ave and North St (Logan Village)
- $10 million for a business case to upgrade the remaining sections of Waterford-Tamborine Rd from:
- Albert St/Kingston Rd (Waterford) to North St (Logan Village)
- Hotz Rd (Logan Village) to Camp Cable Rd (Logan Village/Yarrabilba)

A sense of safety is paramount in everyone’s mind and the current state of Waterford-Tamborine Road weighs heavily on the minds of residents.
Council continues to advocate to the Queensland Government for a strategic solution for the entire length of Waterford-Tamborine Rd.
The following upgrades have been funded to increase the road network capacity and improve traffic flow to accommodate predicted traffic volumes on Waterford-Tamborine Road. The Queensland Government has indicated it will assess the impact on traffic flow from the current intersection upgrades before any additional works are committed.

• upgrading four intersections on Waterford-Tamborine Rd between Anzac Ave and Hotz Rd, Logan Village
• widening existing 2.6 km stretch of this section from one to two lanes in each direction
• installing a centre median to separate north and southbound traffic lanes.
